Visit Tossa De Mar

About the resort

Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful places in Spain; this is the reason why it is also one of the most popular among tourists. Costa Brava has a lot of beautiful resorts ready to receive tourists and one of them is Tossa de Mar. The resort, situated close to the France border and very accessible from Barcelona, became popular around the year 1950, when Ava Gardner filmed a movie there, called “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman”. Now, Tossa de Mar is a very popular place, as tourists go there attracted by the beautiful medieval quarter. The medieval quarter is called Vila Vella and it dates back to the 12th century; its main purpose was to protect the town from pirate attacks. The quarter is formed out of cobbled streets, which are like heaven for tourists, because the souvenir shops are like home here. You can find bargains in many of them, taking home some nice memories to savour later on.

The Tossa de Mar attractions

Tossa de Mar is renowned for its Museum, housed in a 14th century house which used to belong to the governor of the city. Inside the museum tourists can admire a collection of old objects from the prehistoric era and up to the middle Ages, objects that tell the history of the area. There is another thing that makes Tossa de Mar so special: its wonderful views. It seems like nature has created a heaven on Earth in Tossa de Mar, which makes this resort very popular among artists. This is no wonder because the town is situated in the centre of a protected area.

Since you are in one of the resorts in Costa Brava, it is impossible not to enjoy the water and the sun. The beach in Tossa de Mar, the Playa Gran, is absolutely spectacular; the sand is delicate and the water is great for water sports, such as yachting, sailing or windsurfing. If you are a diver, then you should try the small isles in Medes, situated very close to the coast. You will be amazed by the clear water and the wide range of fish that you can admire. If you want to relax after a busy day of water sports and sightseeing, you can choose one of the nice restaurants that serve delicious traditional dishes. You should try this resort at least once, as it is going to be a very pleasant holiday.

It is a country that millions of people visit every year attracted by the wide range of amazing places that they can see. Spain is the type of country that meets the tastes and desires of all sorts of people, so everyone who visits it at some point falls in love with it. There are so many provinces that one can visit and so many breathtaking landscapes to see. You have to visit this country for a relaxing holiday and for an interesting lesson of history.

Go to the province of Asturias

Asturias is known as being a principality and one of the most beautiful provinces in Spain. The capital of the province is Oviedo, the city which is renowned for the spectacular Cathedral and for the monuments that have beautiful pre-romantic elements. The province is surrounded by high mountain ranges, making it enjoy a beautiful landscape; the mountains host natural reserves where those who love nature can spend a pleasant day surrounded by the pure and unspoilt nature from all parts. Tourists love the province for the spectacular landscapes which seem to be taken from another world. The beaches are also great, covered by delicate sands and guarded by crystal clear, shallow waters perfect for families with small children. A major attraction of the province, apart from the numerous nature reserves is represented by the famous Saint James’ Route, the popular route which pilgrims from all the corners of the world follow every year in their attempt to reach the grave of the Saint by foot.

Asturias is also a province where history was very well kept, a place full of historical sites and museums which host objects that show us how our ancestors lived. It is also a province where the customs and the traditions of Spain have been very well preserved, as the inhabitants of the province think that these are the things that identify them as individuals. Oviedo is the capital of Asturias, but you should also visit Gijon or Aviles. Gijon is a city which was founded by the Romans; so many fingerprints of this amazing civilization were left behind here. Visit the province, enjoy the landscapes and its cultural heritage and your holiday will be a memorable one.

Visit The Canary Islands

Spain, the perfect holiday destination

In order to enjoy the best holiday you’ve ever had, you must visit the best country! One of the best holiday countries in Europe, according to what tourists say, is Spain. With amazing landscape and beautiful cities, Spain is a very popular country. The most popular resorts here are on the coasts and islands, so if you are searching for some sun, then don’t miss the Canary Isles.

Puerto Del Carmen

Found on the island of Lanzarote, Puerto Del Carmen is the best known holiday resort here. Though it used to be a small harbour in the past, today it is a magnificent holiday destination: the water is a splendid turquoise, the sand is clean and the sun shines all the time here. The most visited beach here is Playa Grande; millions of people come to it every year. They know that here they can do whatever they want: there are special places for practising water sports, relaxing gardens with wonderful flowers and trees and the cobbled and narrow streets that take you to a historical era. Add some lively night clubs close to numerous bars and it will become your favourite vacation destination. The nightlife here is very busy: the streets are crowded, no matter the hour, music is always present in your ears and the tasty Spanish tapas will amaze you.

Rancho Texas Park

Beside the fact that the entire place is a heavenly one, the main attraction of Puerto Del Carmen is definitely Rancho Texas Park. It is both an amusement park and a zoo; the exhibitions of rare birds and animals are next to some merry-go-rounds and other fun attractions. On one hand, if you travel with your kids, they will certainly love this place; on the other hand, if you travel by yourself or with some friends, you will certainly remember how beautiful it was to be a child again: don’t miss any of the amusement attractions here, take pictures, and enjoy a fabulous vacation.

Puerto Calero

Next to this Rancho Texas Park you can admire some valuable yachts in Puerto Calero. It is worth visiting, especially if it is your first time in such a place. There are numerous restaurants serving specific foods around the port; it is highly recommended that you taste all the meals prepared with fish, as it is said that you can have the most delicious meals in the world here.

Visit The Amazing Antequera

Hidden treasures in Andalusia

Andalusia is truly one of the most beautiful regions in Spain, a region that has a lot to offer its tourists. However, the true potential of Andalusia is a lot bigger than what tourism brochures show, because there are hundreds of places which are not very famous. These places hide treasures of beauty, culture, traditions, and history and they should receive more attention from you, the tourist, because they really deserve it. One of these hidden treasures in the small town of Antequera, a place which began to become popular among tourists when the real estates started to be of great interest for those who invest in such things. Investors started to buy properties around Antequera because they saw its potential and its beauty. It is especially the British who buy houses in Antequera, because they are attracted by the amazing climate and by the history of the town, which is charming.

The history of a wonderful place

The British are definitely not the ones who first discovered the potential of Antequera. The first people who did it were among the first inhabitants of Spain and especially of Andalusia, over 5,000 years ago. The area which was watered by the Guadalhorce River was a very fertile one, situated at the feet of the Sierra Torcales Mountains. The fingerprints of these people are two imposing burial monuments made of stone, weighing more than 180 tons, which were only discovered in the 17th century. The Roman Empire transformed Antequera in a very important center for the production of the olive oil; for those who are interested in all the details of the town’s history, the Antequera Museum hosts collections of objects pertaining to even the first days of life for the settlement.

The history of many Spanish towns and cities is closely connected to both the Romans and the Moors; this is also the case of Antequera. The Moors were the ones who left behind the amazing castle which still guards the town’s streets and some of the oldest houses, built during the Moors, contain tunnels that can still be visited by tourists. You can find these in the old quarter. The center of the town is dedicated to entertainment; many lively bars and pubs which serve the famous tapas are everywhere. If you need some peace and quiet, follow the narrow, white streets which will lead you to the old quarter.

Visit Tenerife

If you wish to spend a memorable vacation with your loved ones, to have a great time and forget all your problems, then you must travel to Spain. The Iberian country is the perfect holiday destination: large parks, amazing gardens, historical places and modern cities are all gathered together to offer you the very best holiday possible. Tenerife is one of the most popular islands in Spain; its coasts are visited annually by millions of people, especially during the summer season.

Playa de la Tejita

Playa de la Tejita is a fabulous beach located at the south of the Tenerife coast. Its amazing landscape, clear water and golden sands will amaze you more and more each time you visit it. Regarding the mountain that can be admired from this place, the beach is also known as Red Mountain or Playa Montana Roja. However, the name is less important; the most important thing is that this beach is a beach of many possibilities, so a holiday here can only be a heavenly one. Furthermore, the area around this magnificent place is protected by law for its ecological value.

A different place

Another attractive feature of this beach is that it is different from other beaches of the Tenerife islands: it is a completely natural beach. The landscape is unique as the land and valleys were eroded by the wind. There are some small forests and pieces of land housing unique species of flowers here, while in Playa de la Tejita, you have the impression that it is a virgin place where humans haven’t arrived yet. The beaches are clean and silence reigns in these lands. You will only see an umbrella here and there; there are no crowded bars, loud music or crowded restaurants! It is also the perfect place to visit if you long for a more quite vacation; the place is little known, so it is not crowded at all.

The historical buildings of Playa de la Tejita

Although it seems like a virgin place, there are some historical places to visit while here. The one which dominates the whole area is the tower, pertaining to the old aerodrome called Lano de Roja. If you manage to reach its top, you can admire the panorama, which is breathtaking. There are also some old houses and churches that are worth visiting: admire them, take pictures and imagine you are living decades ago!

Torrevieja - A Tourist Destination In Spain

A beautiful place

Spain is a country that has a lot to offer: interesting traditions, a vast culture and history, beautiful monuments, cosmopolitan cities, very traditional villages and breathtaking landscape. There is nothing missing from this country, which makes it one of the most beautiful in the world. Some of the holiday resorts in Spain are less renowned than others, but this does not mean that they are not as beautiful. This is the case of Torrevieja; it used to be a very coquette fishing village, but the earthquake in 1829 destroyed almost everything. Now, it is a modern place where tourists have a lot of activities at their disposal for their fun. It is now a very pretty place to spend a holiday, because the government has invested a great deal of money in it.

What you can do while in Torrevieja

One thing that is very interesting about Torrevieja is the fact that it has a lot of restaurants. The number of restaurants is impressive, taking into consideration that Torrevieja is not a very big resort. Some of the restaurants serve traditional dishes which are delicious, as they are prepared using only fresh ingredients; other restaurants serve international dishes: Chinese, Irish, or American. But, of course you will go to dinner only after you have spent some relaxing time on the beach. Although it is true that Torrevieja doesn’t have very big beaches, they are nevertheless very well maintained and some of them are not too crowded, so you can spend some time with your loved ones on them. Another important activity in Torrevieja is shopping; modern shopping centres, as well as the craft shops are everywhere in this resort, so you can find some wonderful things for very little money. The sellers prefer to let you bargain for your goods, because competition is fierce in Torrevieja.

The Spanish spirit

Even though Torrevieja is surrounded by districts hosting people from different nations, the true Spanish spirit is still alive. On a long walk on the promenade you can eat an ice cream together with the local families who are out socializing, just like they used to do decades ago. However, the fact that you are a tourist in such a nice place won’t change the fact that you will have some problems with parking your car during the peak seasons. But if you want to enjoy a nice weather and a very relaxing holiday, try not to take this into consideration. Just have fun!

Sightseeing in a beautiful town

Spain is the type of country that tourists love. It has something to offer for all kinds of tastes; high mountain peaks, low and green valleys, shallow, crystal clear waters, sandy beaches, old villages that keep the spirit of the country alive and cosmopolite big cities where the futuristic aspects of Spain are met. How can one not love Spain? If you are in search for the perfect holiday destination in Spain, I strongly recommend you Zaragoza. Zaragoza is a mysterious city which tourists learn to love as they spend more time in it. The main activity in Zaragoza is related to sightseeing; the history of the city is a very rich one, so you have to visit the main places in Zaragoza in order to connect with it and in order to get into its atmosphere. The Seo Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, but also a monument that was decorated with elements belonging to the Baroque style and even to the Plateresque style. For those who are interested in visiting a monument belonging to the Renaissance, La Lonja, which is the building that used to host the stock exchange in Spain, is the right place. The Aljaferia Palace is another important stop for those who visit Zaragoza, a building dating back to the 11th century, is an exquisite representation of the Moorish architecture. The numerous churches and monasteries are places where the religious people go for a few moments of peace and quiet, but for the eye of the casual visitor, they are wonderful architectural examples.

Having fun in Zaragoza

You can imagine that a big city like Zaragoza is a place where sightseeing is not the only activity. Those who want to have a lot of fun when they visit Zaragoza can try a tour of the restaurants. The gourmets especially will love the tour, because there are dozens of traditional dishes that they can try, starting with the famous tapas served in every bar, restaurant or pub. The dish containing cod fish as main ingredient, as well as garlic and eggs is another dish that tourists fall in love with. The nightlife is very active in Zaragoza and the young tourists will love this aspect of the city. There are plenty of clubs and bars where traditional music is played, flamenco nights and karaoke shows that will definitely entertain you.

Spain'S Main Attractions

Amazing Spain

If you are looking for a special experience during your holiday, visit Spain. This amazing country has so much to offer that you will need more than one holiday to get to know it well. However, for a start, just choose a destination that suits your tastes, preferences and needs. Probably the first thing that comes into the minds of those who hear “Spain” is La Sagrada Familia. And they are not wrong as this architectural beauty - the work of Antoni Gaudi, is already an icon of Spain.

Barcelona is the city that proudly hosts it and even though the Cathedral is not finished yet, it still receives thousands of visitors every day. Another destination is the Alhambra Palace, about which some say that it is heaven on earth. It is a brilliant monument which represents the architectural genius of the Islamic civilization which once ruled over Spain. The Cordoba Mosque is famous for the golden mosaics that impress tourists as well as arches painted in red and white. The Mosque is the result of the architectural skills of three civilizations: the Christians, the Muslims and the Jews.

Impressing experiences

A once in a lifetime experience is a week in Seville, the week before Easter. Known as the Santa Semana, the fiesta that celebrates Jesus for an entire week attracts millions of visitors. Spending a few days in luxurious paradors is an experience which is not available in too many places on earth. The paradors are former palaces which throughout the centuries were transformed into convents. Now, their beauties have been awakened and you can understand their grandeur only if you visit them. The beaches in Menorca have been included in the Biosphere Reserve due to the fact that the natural environment has not been spoilt.

The lush vegetation and the great beaches assure the wonderful time you need. Toledo is a destination which takes you back into medieval Spain, a place where you will be delighted by the patios and the labyrinth of streets. Segovia has been designated World Heritage by the UNESCO. The main thing that attracts visitors to Segovia is the legend regarding the founder of the city: people think that Hercules built it. Wonderful landscapes and breathtaking views are available for those who love the mountain in Sierra Nevada. The valleys and the peaks are perfect for horse riding, skiing and climbing, so the nature lovers feel at home here. Last but not the least, for a perfect balance between a culinary experience and spectacular landscapes; visit the wine country - the La Rioja region.

Madrid By Night

A little bit about Madrid

Madrid is one of the most spectacular cities not only in Spain, but in the whole of Europe. The capital of this amazing country Spain, Madrid knows how to attract its tourists through a wide range of activities. There are some who are interested in the architecture and the history of the city, while others visit it attracted by the unique traditions and culture as well as by the delicious cuisine. However there is also a group of tourists, especially the young ones, who visit Madrid for its active night life. After all, some say that it is Europe’s night life capital.

Visit Santa Ana

Santa Ana is a square that hosts the famous Calle Huertas, a street packed with bars and pubs. Since you are in Madrid, you have to do like Spaniards do: move from bar to bar and pub to pub in search for quality entertainment. This street is perfect for this because the taverns, the pubs and the bars are situated very close to one another, so you can easily reach them by foot.

The famous subway stations

I know that the first thing that comes into your mind when you see the subtitle is that there must be something at the subway stations. Well, not really, but very close to them. Bilbao and Alonso Martinez are renowned for being situated close to Pacha, the most famous and popular disco in Madrid; a fun night, with a lot of music and dancing will definitely be to your taste.

Nightlife in winter

When winter comes, tourists create a false impression about the fact that there is not much to do, so most people prefer to postpone their holidays. This is not the case for Madrid: the city is very active, even if it is winter. You can spend a pleasant time in one of the traditional cafes because there are plenty of them. Most of these cafes are decorated in a wonderful ‘’Belle Epoque’’ style.

Nightlife in summer

Almost all summer nights are hot, so when you visit Madrid you have to look for something to cool you down. Choose one of the many terraces which are open until late and enjoy the views of the city with your friends. Gran Via is one famous place where all types of people go because the bars and the pubs are so numerous that it is impossible not to find something to your taste.

The Wonderful Seville

The town of Sevilla (as it is called is Spanish), or Seville, can be found near the river Guadalquirvir in the southern part of the Andalusia region. This is one of the most visited locations by tourists, not only in Spain, but on the whole continent of Europe as well. It is a truly amazing city that offers a great variety of fun activities and tourist attractions to its visitors.

The majority of tourists choose to visit Seville in April. This is so that they can enjoy the wonderful Feria de Abril. This is a huge party that is organized to take place over the span of the whole week, a party where the guests can eat all the food they want, drink only the finest beverages and dance to some of the best music in the world. The Feria de Abril is the main reason why the town is so crowded in April, but other activities are offered to tourists as well, such as attending and observing the parades organized in honor of Seville. This event, though, is mainly focused towards the tradition of the place.

There are other great events organized in Seville that are perfect for tourists, such as the one that is set throughout Holy Week, just after Feria de Abril. This event is more religious and spiritual in nature. Thanks to all of these events, the tourist visiting rate rises exponentially during the months of March and April. This is the busiest time in Seville, so be sure to make hotel reservations before you actually arrive there.

The events are not the only things that are offered to tourists in Seville. You will find many historical buildings and places, amazing sights and other artistic and architecturally impressive places. One such place is the Cathedral of Seville, or Catedral de Sevilla as it is called is Spanish, found in the old part of town.

The Mudejar Royal Palace is another great place for visiting if you are a tourist and have a passion for history or culture. The palace is also known as the Alcazar. It features some of the most amazing and beautiful architecture and gardens that you could visit in the whole country.  The Casa de Pilatos is also a wonderful location, which features amazing Gothic and Renaissance unique designs. It was built during the sixteenth century and it still stands in good shape to this day.

The Wonderful Castilla And Leon

A beautiful place

Spain’s biggest region, Castilla and Leon, is differentiated by the other regions through the fact that several civilizations left their fingerprints on every piece and every corner; the result is a region full of interesting places to visit, castles, monasteries and even fortifications, all of them marks and remains of old Spain. The amazing monuments hosted by this region are the main attraction factor for tourists, because they are pieces of its history; the Romans, the Celts and the Moors fought to conquer parts of this region. This is the reason why Castilla and Leon is also known as the region of fortifications and the castles’ land.

Avila and Burgos

Start your journey in Avila. The city is popular for having an almost complete set of walls dating back to the medieval era. It is also famous for its 88 towers and the 9 gateways which represent important sightseeing spots in the city. Burgos is popular for the Gothic Cathedral which is said to be of an overwhelming beauty. The Cathedral was founded in 1221 and it represents one of the places where the pilgrims heading towards Santiago de Compostela stop for a few hours.

Going to Salamanca and Segovia

The main attraction in Salamanca is the University, dating back to the 13th century; Salamanca’s University is also the oldest in Spain; hundreds of students enjoy the exquisite services of the University, as well as the bars and the pubs so famous for their tapas. If you want to discover Salamanca, visit it on foot. The departure point should be Plaza Mayor, a place where the Baroque architecture is at home. Segovia should be visited for two reasons: the famous Alcazar, the fortress and castle which guards the city from the top of the 152 steps which lead you to its gates, and the Roman Aqueduct, which is visible from any point if you are in the suburbs of the city.

Valladolid and Zamora

Valladolid is the capital of the region and a city full of cultural and architectural heritage; it is a place that should definitely be on your list, because if you haven’t seen it, you haven’t seen the essence of the region. Last but not least, go to Zamora. The Cathedral dating back to the 12th century is the main attraction of the city. The Romanesque Churches are also worth your attention. Go to Castilla and Leon and you will have an unforgettable holiday.

The White Gaucin

Special places, special holidays

There is a small village in Spain which is so beautiful and so picturesque that when you visit Malaga, you must go and see it. Its name is Gaucin and its charm comes from the whiteness of his houses, the steepness of its every corner, the number of steps you have to climb in order to reach to your destination and the warmth of the 1,842 inhabitants. The region of Serrania de Ronda hosts this special place of Spain, a place which is surrounded by history from all sides. Very different histories and cultures have mingled in Gaucin; the proof lies in Loma de Enmedio, in Casa del Abrevadero, which are Roman remains and in the aspect of the houses, which was influenced by the Muslims. However, the past of Gaucin is strongly connected to the Romans; as they did it in every possession in Europe, Gaucin was also part of a network of roads between different points that they occupied. Tourists can still see the paved roads connecting Gibraltar and Ronda. Signs of the Arabs are still present in the ruins of Castille de Gaucin: an excavation and three wells make the specialists think that this was a route used by the Arabs to escape.

Sightseeing in Gaucin

Tourists have a lot of places to visit in Gaucin and many buildings and monuments to see. The San Sebastian Church lies in the middle of the village and it represents the departure point for many who come to visit Gaucin in their exploring adventure. The church, dating back to the 16th century, is one of the oldest buildings in the village that has managed to survive from top to bottom. Fuente de los Ses Canos is another amazing building dating back to the 18th century; together with the other old buildings and monuments in Gaucin, it helps tourists understand where the skills of the present architects of Spain come from.

Having fun

When you visit Gaucin, you have to take part in one of the traditional Spanish fiestas hosted by the village. Romeria de San Juan is the most popular one, an occasion to dance and listen to traditional music. The cuisine in Gaucin uses natural products cultivated in the region and, besides being very healthy, it is also very delicious. Try the melons, the grapes, and the dishes that use rabbit and pork and you won’t regret it!
