Tossa de Mar is renowned for its Museum, housed in a 14th century house which used to belong to the governor of the city. There is another thing that makes Tossa de Mar so special: its wonderful views. It seems like nature has created a heaven on Earth in Tossa de Mar, which makes this resort very popular among artists. The Moors were the ones who left behind the amazing castle which still guards the town’s streets and some of the oldest houses, built during the Moors, contain tunnels that can still be visited by tourists. You can find these in the old quarter. The center of the town is dedicated to entertainment; many lively bars and pubs which serve the famous tapas are everywhere. If you need some peace and quiet, follow the narrow, white streets which will lead you to the old quarter.

The beaches are clean and silence reigns in these lands. You will only see an umbrella here and there; there are no crowded bars, loud music or crowded restaurants! It is also the perfect place to visit if you long for a more quite vacation; the place is little known, so it is not crowded at all.

The historical buildings of Playa de la Tejita

Although it seems like a virgin place, there are some historical places to visit while here. The one which dominates the whole area is the tower, pertaining to the old aerodrome called Lano de Roja. If you manage to reach its top, you can admire the panorama, which is breathtaking. There are also some old houses and churches that are worth visiting: admire them, take pictures and imagine you are living decades ago!

A beautiful place

Spain is a country that has a lot to offer: interesting traditions, a vast culture and history, beautiful monuments, cosmopolitan cities, very traditional villages and breathtaking landscape. There is nothing missing from this country, which makes it one of the most beautiful in the world. Some of the holiday resorts in Spain are less renowned than others, but this does not mean that they are not as beautiful. This is the case of Torrevieja; it used to be a very coquette fishing village, but the earthquake in 1829 destroyed almost everything. Now, it is a modern place where tourists have a lot of activities at their disposal for their fun. It is now a very pretty place to spend a holiday, because the government has invested a great deal of money in it.

One thing that is very interesting about Torrevieja is the fact that it has a lot of restaurants. The number of restaurants is impressive, taking into consideration that Torrevieja is not a very big resort. Some of the restaurants serve traditional dishes which are delicious, as they are prepared using only fresh ingredients; other restaurants serve international dishes: Chinese, Irish, or American. But, of course you will go to dinner only after you have spent some relaxing time on the beach. Although it is true that Torrevieja doesn’t have very big beaches, they are nevertheless very well maintained and some of them are not too crowded, so you can spend some time with your loved ones on them. Another important activity in Torrevieja is shopping; modern shopping centres, as well as the craft shops are everywhere in this resort, so you can find some wonderful things for very little money. The sellers prefer to let you bargain for your goods, because competition is fierce in Torrevieja.

The Spanish spirit

Even though Torrevieja is surrounded by districts hosting people from different nations, the true Spanish spirit is still alive. On a long walk on the promenade you can eat an ice cream together with the local families who are out socializing, just like they used to do decades ago. However, the fact that you are a tourist in such a nice place won’t change the fact that you will have some problems with parking your car during the peak seasons. But if you want to enjoy a nice weather and a very relaxing holiday, try not to take this into consideration. Just have fun!
